How long does the education take to complete?

The entire education consists of 10 modules. You have the flexibility to set the pace of your education, but we recommend spreading it over a minimum of 4–6 months. This allows you to gain the best understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of interior design.

What does a visual merchandiser do?

A visual merchandiser works with the interior design of stores. As a visual merchandiser, you focus specifically on the individual store’s brand and how to make it stand out through the store’s layout and decorations. Additionally, as a visual merchandiser, you pay close attention to the psychological aspects of sales, ensuring that your displays help generate higher revenue.

What opportunities are available after completing the education?

As a visual merchandiser, you will have the opportunity to start your own business, working independently with store design and sales-oriented styling that helps brands increase their revenue and strengthen their visual identity. If you prefer employment, you can pursue roles in retail chains, fashion and lifestyle stores, or work with consultancy services for brands and companies that want to optimize their in-store customer experience.

Hele uddannelsen strækker sig over 10 moduler, som du selv styrer tiden omkring.  Som selvstuderende er det op til dig, hvor lang tid du vil fordybe dig i hvert modul. Hvad laver en dekoratør?

En dekoratør kommer til at arbejde med indretningen af butikker. Som dekoratør skal du have specielt fokus på den enkelte butiks brand, og hvordan du bedst får det til at skille sig ud i indretningen og dekorationen af butikken. Derudover har du som dekoratør et stort fokus på de psykologiske aspekter af salg, som får dine dekorationer til at skabe mere omsætning.

Hvad tjener en dekoratør?

Der kan være forskel på lønnen alt efter, hvor du arbejder. Som dekoratør kan du både opnå ansættelse i en butik, butikskæde eller lignende samt arbejde som freelance dekoratør for forskellige butikker.

Som fastansæt dekoratør vil lønniveauet typisk ligge mellem 25.000 – 35.000 kr. Som freelance dekoratør vil din løn afhænge af, hvor mange butikker/kunder du vælger at tage ind.

Practical Information About the interior designer education

How long does the education take to complete?

The duration of the education depends on how you choose to study. At Nordic Online Academy, you have full flexibility – you can study wherever and whenever it suits you, at your own pace. Therefore, you have significant influence over how long it takes to complete the education.

If you want an in-depth and solid understanding of the visual merchandising field, we recommend spreading the education over a minimum of 4-6 months, to engage fully with the lessons and reflect on the topics you learn. This reflection is important, as it prepares you for the challenges you will face as a professional visual merchandiser and helps you build a stronger professional foundation.

We therefore recommend that you contact our student guidance team for personal advice and assistance in planning your education path.

What is the format of the education?

The education format is 100% digital. This means that after registration, you will receive your welcome letter along with your personal login for the education on our user-friendly learning platform. The platform is structured in modules, which you complete one at a time at your own pace.

Remember, you are never alone in your studies. Our student guidance team is ready to assist you, whether you have technical, practical, or academic questions. You can easily contact us via chat or email before, during, and after your education.

Do I have to take an exam?

No, at Nordic Online Academy, we have chosen not to conclude our educations with a traditional exam. Instead, we use continuous assessment through Multiple Choice Tests after each module.

These tests are designed to reinforce your learning along the way, giving you the opportunity to reflect on the content as you progress through the education. The tests are not just a form of evaluation – they are a tool to ensure that you understand and can apply what you learn. This way, you can proceed at your own pace and gain a deeper benefit from the education.

Once you have completed and passed all the modules, you will receive your personal certificate, documenting your new skills.

Do I get a certificate after the education?

Yes, once you have completed the Visual Merchandiser education, you will receive your personal certificate. The certificate serves as proof of the skills and knowledge you have acquired.

You can use the certificate, for example, when applying for jobs or as evidence of your knowledge and competencies if you wish to start your own business.

What costs should I expect for the Visual Merchandiser education?

The Visual Merchandiser education at Nordic Online Academy costs EUR 1.750, and that’s it. The price includes proprietary downloadable materials for the education units, as well as all other learning resources throughout the program. Additionally, there may be recommendations to acquire material samples, color swatches, and similar items, which could incur extra costs, but these are not mandatory for the education.

Compared to in-person educations, our price is extremely competitive. This is due to our online format, which eliminates costs for classrooms and other physical facilities. Our focus is on providing a high-quality education that is accessible to everyone – and at an affordable price.

What career opportunities are available after the education?

After completing the education, you will be equipped to create aesthetic and beautiful store environments, while also understanding the psychology behind sales and customer decision-making.

As a graduate, you will have a broad range of career opportunities, either as an employee or as a self-employed professional.
If you prefer employment, there are typically job opportunities with major retail chains in Denmark that hire visual merchandisers specifically for their stores. There are also possibilities for employment with trade associations and trade show organizers.

At the same time, there are opportunities to work independently within the field. This includes offering your skills to multiple clients, for example by assisting with decoration tasks for various retail businesses or showrooms.

For how long do I have access to the education material?

When you enroll in the visual merchandiser education, you will initially have access to the teaching materials for a full 2 years. This period ensures that you have plenty of time to learn at your own pace, and you can easily return to the materials whenever you need to. Whether you want to refresh your knowledge or dive deeper into specific topics, you have the flexibility and time to do so.

In addition, you will also have the option to download the textual education materials, allowing you to use them during the education and even after completing your studies, providing value for a long time.

If it turns out during your education that you need extra study time, don’t worry – in such cases, we can extend your access for a limited period at no additional cost.

What kind of support can I expect during the education?

On the decorator education, you can expect extensive support from our student advisors before, during, and after your education. Although the education is based on self-study, we are here to collaborate with you and guide you throughout the entire program. We are ready to assist you before, during, and after your education so that you feel confident and well supported.

Before the education:
We are ready to answer your questions about the education structure, content, and practical details. Our goal is to ensure that you feel well-prepared and confident when starting your education.

During the education:
If you have questions along the way, our student advisors and experts are always available to provide personal and professional guidance. Whether it concerns specific modules, assignments, or practical challenges, you can get help and support whenever you need it.

After the education:
Once you have completed the decorator education, we are ready to assist and support you in your next steps. We offer career guidance and help you feel confident and prepared to start your career as a decorator.

Can I receive career guidance in connection with my education?

Yes, absolutely. At Nordic Online Academy, it is important for us to support you and ensure that you move forward successfully in your career within the field.

As you approach the completion of the education, our learning platform allows you to book career guidance tailored to your specific situation and future goals. During career guidance, we typically focus on how you can gain practical experience as a natural next step after completing the education. This could, for example, be through employment (including access to our network within the field and experience from other students) or guidance on starting your own business.

Together with our student counselors, we ensure that you receive all the support and guidance you need—before, during, and after your education. If you have any questions, you can always contact us via chat or email.

What payment options do you offer?

Typically, the education fee is paid directly upon enrollment using a payment card. We do, however, offer a range of flexible installment options:

  1. One-time payment (card or PayPal):
    Pay the full amount with a payment card upon enrollment to gain instant access to the education material and start your studies right away. You can also pay the full amount through PayPal upon enrollment. This option likewise gives you immediate access to the education material.

  2. One-time payment (invoice):
    With this option, we will issue an invoice and send it to you. Payment must then be completed through an international bank transfer, since we are based in Denmark. Please note that due to the additional manual processing, this method may take a bit longer than the other payment options.

  3. Installments (directly to Nordic Online Academy):
    Pay 40% of the total amount with a payment card upon enrollment to gain instant access to the education material. Pay the remaining balance in four installments of 15% each, spaced 30 days apart.
    Please note that a 5% administration fee is added to the total education fee.

How are the educations produced?

All our programs are originally developed and produced in Denmark, ensuring high Danish quality standards in both content and structure. To make our programs accessible to a wider audience, we use advanced AI technology to translate the materials into English.

This is not just a translation – it helps maintain consistency, and ensures that the original quality of the educational material is up to par with our standards.
