Three quick facts about the Interior Design Education
How long does an online Interior Design Course take?

Our full online Interior Design Consultant course is divided into 12 modules. You have the flexibility to set the pace of your course, but we recommend spreading it over a minimum of 3–5 months. This allows you to gain the best understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of interior design.

What is the difference between a home stylist and an interior designer?

A home stylist course and an interior design course are actually the same. The confusion usually arises when comparing them to an interior architect. An interior designer works creatively, curiously, and commercially with the design from start to finish, whereas an interior architect typically focuses on technical drawings, such as floor plans and 3D renderings.

What job opportunities are available after the course?

You will have the option to start your own business as an independent interior consultant, focusing, for example, on sales styling as well as interior projects for private clients and companies. If you prefer employment, there are opportunities to work for interior design stores and showrooms or to provide consultancy services for furniture and interior companies.

Tre hurtige om indretningskonsulent uddannelsen

Hvor lang er uddannelsen?

Hele vores online uddannelse for at blive indretningskonsulent forløber sig over 12 moduler.

Facts about the education

Practical information about the interior designer education

How long does the course take?

The duration of the course depends on how you choose to study. At Nordic Online Academy, you have full flexibility – you can study where and when it suits you, at your own pace. This means you have a great deal of influence on how long it will take you to complete the course.

If you want an in-depth and solid understanding of interior design, we recommend that you take the time to immerse yourself in the lessons and reflect on the topics you learn. This reflection is important, as it prepares you for the challenges you will face as a professional interior design consultant and helps you build a stronger professional foundation.

We therefore recommend that you contact our student guidance service for personal support and help in planning your course of study.

What is the format of the course?

The course format is 100% digital. This means that after enrolling, you will receive your welcome letter along with your personal login to the course on our user-friendly learning platform. The platform is structured into modules, which you complete one at a time, at your own pace.

Remember, you are never alone in your studies. Our student guidance team is ready to support you, whether you have technical, practical, or academic questions. You can easily contact us via chat, email, or phone—before, during, and after your course.

Do I have to take an exam?

No, at Nordic Online Academy we have chosen not to end our courses with a traditional exam. Instead, we use continuous evaluation through Multiple Choice Tests after each module.

These tests are designed to strengthen your learning along the way and give you the opportunity to reflect on the content as you progress through the course. The tests are not just a form of control – they are a tool to ensure that you understand and can apply what you learn. This way, you can move at your own pace and gain a deeper outcome from the training.

Once you have completed and passed all the modules, you will receive your personal certificate, documenting your new skills.

Do I receive a certificate after completing the course?

Yes, once you have completed the Interior Design Course, you will receive your personal certificate. The certificate serves as proof of the skills and knowledge you have acquired.

You can use the certificate as part of your job applications or as evidence of your expertise and competencies if you wish to start your own interior design business.

What costs should I expect for the Interior Design Course?

The Interior Design Consultant course at Nordic Online Academy costs DKK 16,900 – and that’s it. The price includes custom-developed downloadable material for each unit of the course, as well as all other learning resources throughout your studies. In addition, there may be recommendations to purchase sample materials, color swatches, and similar items, which could involve an extra cost, but this is not a requirement for completing the course.

Compared to in-person courses, our price is highly competitive. This is due to our online format, which eliminates costs for classrooms and other physical facilities. Our focus is on delivering a high-quality education that is accessible to everyone – at an affordable price.

Which drawing systems do you use?

In the interior design consultant course, you won’t receive an in-depth training or full competency in drawing, as this part is primarily focused on our interior architect program. However, we believe that having basic knowledge and skills in drawing will strengthen you as an interior design consultant.

Therefore, the course provides an introduction to different drawing methods and systems. The course primarily uses the software pCon.planner.

Please note that the software is currently only available for devices running Windows.

If you use a Mac or another system, there will be some limitations. In such cases, we are happy to provide guidance and advice on alternative programs (e.g., SketchUp).

How long will I have access to the course materials?

When you enroll in the Interior Design Consultant course, you will generally have access to the course materials for a full 2 years. This period ensures that you have plenty of time to learn at your own pace, and you can easily revisit the materials whenever you need. Whether you want to refresh your knowledge or dive deeper into specific topics, you have the flexibility and time to do so.

Additionally, you will have the option to download the textual course materials, allowing you to use them both during the course and after completion, providing long-term value.

If it turns out that you need extra study time during your course, don’t worry – in such cases, we can extend your access for a limited period at no additional cost.

What kind of support can I expect to receive during the course?

In the Interior Design Consultant course, you can expect extensive support from our student guidance team before, during, and after your course. Although the course is based on self-study, we are here to provide guidance and advice throughout the entire program. We are ready to assist you at every stage, so you feel confident and well supported.

Before the course:
We are available to answer your questions about the course structure, content, and practical details. Our goal is to ensure you feel well-prepared and confident when starting your course.

During the course:
If you have questions along the way, our student advisors and experts are always ready to provide personal and professional guidance. Whether it concerns specific modules, assignments, or practical challenges, you can get help and support whenever you need it.

Can I receive career guidance alongside my course?

Yes, absolutely. At Nordic Online Academy, it is important for us to support you and ensure that you progress successfully in your career within the field.

As you approach the end of the course, you have the opportunity through our learning platform to book career guidance tailored to your specific situation and future goals. During career guidance sessions, we typically focus heavily on how you can gain practical experience as a natural next step after completing the course. This could, for example, take the form of employment (including access to our professional network and experience from other students) or guidance on starting your own business.

Together with our academic advisors, we ensure that you receive all the support and mentoring you need—before, during, and after your course. If you have any questions, you can always contact us via chat, email, or phone.

Are networking groups a possibility?

Yes, as part of your interior design course, we offer networking groups that give you the opportunity to build a strong professional network already during your studies. In the networking groups, you can share experiences, discuss relevant topics, and support each other in your development as future interior design consultants. The groups provide a valuable space to exchange ideas and receive feedback from both fellow students and graduates.

If you are interested in joining a networking group, you can contact us. We continuously match students from the interior design consultant course into new networking groups based on factors such as experience, geography, and future goals.

Which payment options do you offer?

Typically, the course fee is paid directly upon enrollment using a payment card or via invoice. We do, however, offer a range of flexible installment options:

  1. One-time payment (card or invoice):
You can pay the full amount with a payment card directly upon enrollment. If you prefer to pay via invoice and bank transfer, you can choose this during the enrollment process – we will then prepare and send an invoice.

  2. Installments directly to Nordic Online Academy:
With this option, you pay 40% of the total amount with a payment card upon enrollment. The remaining balance is paid in four installments of 15% each, with 30 days between each payment.
An administration fee of 5% of the course price is added.
